From our clients….
… Just knowing you are there and cared enough to respond with such kind and loving words gave me the courage and strength to handle another day. I take great comfort in knowing I have a true and caring friend I can call, and you will be there for me both on the good as well as the hard days. …
… Thank you seems totally incorrect as a way of telling you how much you have done for me. Just knowing you are only a phone call away to answer my questions and concerns, all the time and energy you spent checking with doctors and pharmacists, the weekly calls to check up on me, all this has given me a lot of peace and calm …
… I want to thank you for the wonderful support you gave me when my despair was the greatest, when I knew I had stage 2 sarcoma in my thigh and was certain that the cancer had metastasized to my chest. Well, I was completely wrong, and the sarcoma was successfully removed. I just want to tell you that you kept me from doing something so dreadful that it is very hard to say how grateful I am for your organization and people like you. …
Common End-of-Life Questions:
Q: What should I expect when I talk to a consultant?
Our 800 number connects you with a confidential voicemail system. A trained professional consultant will call you back to learn about you and your situation, allowing you to talk openly.
Q: How do I discuss my end-of-life wishes with my doctor or family members?
Plainly, simply and honestly. Speaking with one of our end-of-life consultants often helps people clarify their goals so they can more easily communicate them to others.
Q: Where can I find information about advance directives?
You can find information and advance directive forms for every state on our advance planning information page. If you have difficulty completing them, one of our end-of-life consultants will gladly assist you.
Q:If I live in a state that does not yet authorize aid in dying, should I move to a state that does?
No; there are many options available to people across the nation, which an end-of-life consultant can explain to you. Compassion & Choices wants everyone with a terminal illness to have a peaceful death no matter which state they live in.
